Our Story.
For the past 10 years, I’ve spent my time with different pounds, shelters, and volunteer rescue groups to help save and rehome abandoned pets.
In that time I’ve seen so many amazing & dedicated people work tirelessly to save lives, pushing themselves to the edge mentally, emotionally & physically only to see the cage fill up again next week.
While the euthanasia numbers have dropped the volume of pets entering the pound system has increased rapidly for many reasons stretching just about every rehoming organisation across the country and isn’t slowing down.
One thing remained in my mind “Insanity: Is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.”
Right now there are over 300 independent volunteer rescue groups along with the big 6 organisations saving 1000’s of dogs & cats from death row pounds and at-risk situations but they keep coming.
Some of the biggest reasons these animals end up in pounds are due to lack of suitable housing, financial hardship, preventative affordable vet care, homelessness, family & domestic violence, and simple overpopulation.
We need to focus some energy on addressing the root cause of the problem to prevent these animals from ending up in the pound in the first place and that starts with their people.
The Stay Foundation takes a community-centric approach to help support the most vulnerable to keep their pets healthy, happy, and in the home with the people who love them.
This is why The Stay Foundation was created.
